Ireland win historic Grand Slam!
For the first time in 61 years, Ireland sealed their grand slam win in the RBS Six Nations over Wales in what is set to be remembered as one of the most dramatic matches in the competition's history.

After Ronan O'Gara put Ireland ahead 17-15 with two minutes left, Stephen Jones, who had predicted the kicking game would determine the outcome of this match, had a chance to win the game for Wales with a penalty from halfway. On target all the way, the ball dipped at the end coming up desperately, agonisingly close, breaking Wales' hearts and handing the match and grand slam to Ireland.

Can Ireland get the grand slam? Not with Ronan O'Gara's nerves one suspects, unless Brian O'Driscoll really has the stamina to carry the entire team over the winning line.

The Wales match will certainly be interesting.

Here's the recent test results:

Saturday 7th June

South Africa 43 - 17 Wales

New Zealand 21 - 11 Ireland

Argentina 21 - 15 Scotland

Saturday 14th June

South Africa 37 - 21 Wales

New Zealand 37 - 20 England

Argentina 14 - 26 Scotland

Australia 18 - 12 Ireland

Definitely not a good week for NH but Ireland have played well against Australia and also the Pumas match on Saturday was fantastic, who knew Scotland had it in them?

Bath wins EC Cup

Bath secure Challenge Cup glory

Bath claimed their first trophy in 10 years by beating Worcester in the final of the European Challenge Cup.

Bath took control of a physical match at Kingsholm when flanker Jonny Faamatuainu and full-back Nick Abendanon scored before half-time.

Worcester hit back with two Shane Drahm penalties but kicks from Olly Barkley and Butch James sealed the win.

The victory marked the final game in Bath colours for England internationals Barkley and Steve Borthwick.

The pair are leaving The Rec over the summer to join Gloucester and Saracens respectively.
The triumph will be a massive relief for Bath, who have lost four successive finals in three different competitions since winning the Heineken Cup in 1998 and who lost in the Premiership semi-final against Wasps last week.

For Worcester, the defeat means that their dream of playing in next year's Heineken Cup is now over - with Harlequins claiming the final place.

Welcome to rugbyclub! After a sore assessment of livejournal's poorly represented rugby community, a few of us decided to create this place for regular news, scores and banter from the world of Rugby.

How do I join?

Simply join the community. When you join you will have access to posting and commenting privileges.

Posting guidelines

If you're posting news, please include a source link at the bottom of the article and preferably a picture of some sort at the top (make sure it's not hot-linked). Also, if you wish to bold parts of the article you find most relevent, please do, and if it is particularly long, please use lj-cut.

If you wish to comment on your own article, please do so underneath the source link and using italics.

You don't have to post news articles, you can simply request information or conduct polls etc. or post pictures from recent matches, or tell us about your recent rugby exploits. This is your community.

Please contact myself, Ant at my livejournal (reuda) and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Have fun!
